Synopsis

In 1907 Ernest Shackleton set sail in the Nimrod to further explore the Antarctic.  Here is the story of the expedition together with 165 letters and telegrams between, Shackleton,  Captain Scott, the Royal Geographical Society and many others exploring the background of the expedition, the various journeys on ice and the reception they received on their return to England.  Also included are Shackleton’s intimate letters to his wife, Emily, and to Elspeth Beardmore.

Author's Biography

Regina Daly was captivate by Shackleton’s leadership qualities and begun to pursue every avenue to be able to understand him better.  She has written and has had published various articles about local American history and 19th century American heroes.  She lives in the historic Hudson Valley, New York, where she pursues her passions for Antarctic exploration and the American Civil War.
